CHKDSK Starts Each Time I turn My Computer On.  This Has Been Happening for Four Days Now.
For the past 4 days, each time I turn my computer on it starts running a CHKDSK scan. This has been taking approx. 1 1/2 hours each time but no errors are listed in any of the 5 stages the check goes through. It is my understanding this should maybe happen once a year or so, or I have the option of running it myself. Is there a way to stop this from happening each time I turn my computer on? I am running Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3. 1 person needs an answerI do too

Here are a couple of things that sometimes cure the problem:1. Open a Run window (Windows key+R), type cmd and press Enter, now type CHKNTFS /D (the capitals are for clarity only) and press Enter.2. Open a Run window, type regedit and press Enter. In the left pane navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager. In the right pane double-click BootExecute and change the value from something like ‘autocheck autochk * /p \??\C:’ to ‘autocheck autochk *’ (not the quotation marks).

Try this way once & restart your PC. From my computer Right click drive C: > Properties > Tools > Check Now > Check the 2 Options > click Start. Once it's done reboot your PC.Good Luck
